Certified Lifeguard

The YMCA is seeking responsible, attentive, and safety-focused Certified Lifeguards to help ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all members and guests. Lifeguards are responsible for active supervision of pool areas, enforcing safety rules, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service while supporting the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain constant surveillance of pool participants to ensure safety

Enforce YMCA aquatics rules and policies in a positive, professional manner

Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and provide appropriate care

Perform water rescues, first aid, CPR, and AED when necessary

Conduct routine safety checks of pool areas and equipment
-
Assist with opening/closing duties and maintaining a clean aquatic environment

Provide friendly and helpful interaction with members, guests, and staff

Participate in regular in-service trainings and skills evaluations
Qualifications:

Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross, or equivalent)

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

Strong swimming ability and physical stamina

Ability to remain alert, focused, and calm in emergency situations

Excellent communication and customer service skills
-
Minimum age requirement per YMCA and state guidelines

Ability to pass required background checks and clearances
